E2 FAULT CODE
Intergas

Ignition Failure / Lockout

Medium Severity DIY Check Possible

The most common Intergas fault code. The boiler has failed to ignite or has lost its flame. On Intergas boilers, E2 is the primary ignition lockout code.

Cold Weather Note

E2 in winter on Intergas boilers is commonly a frozen condensate pipe. The Intergas design routes the condensate internally — check where the condensate exits the boiler casing.

Step-by-Step Fix Guide

  1. Step 1

Check gas supply — try a gas hob or other appliance

  2. Step 2

In cold weather, check the condensate pipe for ice and thaw with warm water (Intergas condensate pipes can freeze at the boiler casing end)

  3. Step 3

Press and hold the reset button for 3 seconds

  4. Step 4

If E2 persists, call a Gas Safe engineer to inspect the ionisation electrode, gas valve, and flue

Gas Safe Reminder

Work on gas appliances must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer. The steps above cover safe checks a homeowner can perform - any internal component replacement requires a qualified professional. If in doubt, always call an engineer.
