Low Water Pressure
The boiler's water pressure has dropped below the minimum operating level. One of the most common and easily fixed Ideal faults.
Step-by-Step Fix Guide
-
Step 1
Turn off the boiler at the programmer or thermostat
-
Step 2
Locate the filling loop under the boiler
-
Step 3
Open both filling loop valves slowly
-
Step 4
Watch the pressure gauge and close the valves when it reaches 1.0–1.5 bar
-
Step 5
Turn the boiler back on — it should restart automatically
-
Step 6
If pressure drops again within days, contact a Gas Safe engineer to check for leaks
Work on gas appliances must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer. The steps above cover safe checks a homeowner can perform - any internal component replacement requires a qualified professional. If in doubt, always call an engineer.
